I sat on the back porch steps, looking the lake as the sunset painted the sky in pinks and oranges. 25 years - it seems impossible that so much time has passed since I first laid eyes on Annie at the neighbor's barbecue all those summers ago. My heart had swelled with joy at the sight of her through the living room window. Now here we were, two and a half decades later, celebrating our silver anniversary in this very backyard with the same view that had witnessed to countless other memories. Annie nestled into my side, sighing as she rested her head on my shoulder. We swapped stories of our life together as shadows grew long across the yard - the house we built, births of our daughters, family vacations. Laughter rang out often.
