One weekend in March, Dan said he had a surprise planned for my 30th birthday coming up. On the day, he told me to pack an overnight bag as we were taking a trip. We drove for a few hours and ended up at a beautiful beach I had never been to before. There was a picnic set up under the trees as the sun was setting. We ate cheese and crackers while watching the colors change in the sky. As it started to get dark, Dan said he wanted to take a walk along the shore before we headed back. I thought nothing of it as we often went for sunset strolls. But when we got to a secluded cove, Dan stopped and turned to me nervously. Then he started telling me how much he loved me and how happy I made him. I was starting to get a clue about where this was going. When he dropped to one knee in the sand, I started crying before he even got the question fully out. Of course I shouted yes, then hugged him tight as the waves crashed in the background. We sat holding each other watching the stars come out as the happiest couple in the world. It was hands down the most perfect proposal and birthday - a memory I'll treasure forever.
