It was last year when Jack and I decided to take a vacation in Naples, Italy.
It was last year when Jack and I decided to take a vacation in Naples, Italy. We had been together since our college days. After years of living together in London, we finally carved out some time for a little R&R, just the two of us. That first evening, we wandered down to the shoreline to watch the sunset. The orange sky was mirrored in the rolling sea, with seagulls floating effortlessly above. "It's so beautiful here," I sighed, knowing this trip was going to be special. We spent the night dining on pizza by the coast, followed by an early night's sleep in our comfortable room. The following days were filled with historical sites, delicious foods and relaxing beaches. One afternoon, Jack suggested a walk by the water. Just as we arrived, a light rain began to fall. We ducked into a nearby boutique to wait it out. As the rain pattered against the windows, Jack got down on one knee, taking my hands in his. "We've had so many amazing years together. I can't promise what's to come, but I do know that with you by my side, I'll never regret a thing. Sarah, will you marry me?" Tears welled up as I managed to say yes. He slipped a ring he had been eyeing onto my finger. I was completely surprised by his proposal in that little shop. All that mattered was committing our lives to each other. We shared a kiss as the rain continued its soothing soundtrack to our elation.
