For our 55th anniversary, Richard and I decided to renew our wedding vows.

For our 55th anniversary, Richard and I decided to renew our wedding vows. With health issues slowing us down, an extended trip wasn't realistic. So we asked our grandson to officiate in our backyard with just a few loved ones bearing witness. Family members took turns reading the touching letters they wrote about memories that showed our strong bond. After exchanging simple but heartfelt vows, we danced to songs from when we first met as others enjoyed cake. Later, I surprised Richard with a scrapbook of our lives milestone by milestone. Reciting those sacred vows where it all began in our own home felt profoundly meaningful after half a century of marriage.
