I never saw it coming.
I never saw it coming. Finn and I had been together for three years, and we'd always talked about marriage as something in the distant future. That Saturday, we decided to have a picnic in the Royal Botanic Gardens – nothing out of the ordinary for us. As we were setting up our blanket, Finn suggested we take a stroll first. We wandered through the gardens, chatting and laughing like usual. When we reached the Ornamental Lake, Finn suddenly got quiet. I thought he was just enjoying the view, but then he turned to me with this nervous smile. Before I knew it, he was down on one knee, fumbling with a small box. I was in such shock that I barely heard his beautiful speech. All I remember is him saying, "Amelia, you're my best friend and the love of my life. Will you marry me?" I burst into tears and nodded frantically, managing to squeak out a "Yes!" He slipped the most gorgeous ring on my finger. As we hugged, I noticed a photographer nearby. Turns out, Finn had thought of everything!
