James and I actually met on a disastrous blind date four years ago—the restaurant lost our reservation and it poured rain. We laughed so hard that night that I knew he was different. We’ve been through a lot of moves since then, and life has been pretty fast-paced, but he’s always been the one to keep me grounded. Last month, we were traveling for a business trip. We had about twenty minutes of free time between meetings, so we decided to take a quick walk to see the city lights. I was busy checking my phone for the next day's schedule when I realized he had stopped walking. He looked more nervous than I’d ever seen him. He just said, "I've been carrying this ring for three months waiting for a 'perfect' moment, but I realized any moment with you is the one." It was short, honest, and so typical of him. We barely had time to celebrate before our next meeting, but I didn't care. I finally had my ring, and more importantly, my person.
