We toasted to the fact that for once, he actually won the bet.
I actually got this wave tattoo on my wrist three years ago when we were traveling through Europe, and Ben always joked that it was my only "permanent" commitment. We've been together forever—six years, to be exact—and we've always been the couple that preferred backyard BBQs over fancy parties. He's a high school coach, so our life usually revolves around game schedules and training sessions. Last week, we were finally at the beach, and I challenged him to a "no-phone" weekend. We were just sitting there with a bottle of champagne we'd bought at a grocery store on the way over. I was teasing him that he couldn't last two days without checking sports scores, and he said, "Fine, but if I win, you have to promise to keep me around forever." I thought he was just being cheesy until he reached into the cooler—right next to the ice—and pulled out this ring.
