Most people think we’re a new couple, but Caleb and I actually went to high school together. He was the quiet guy in the back of the lab, and I was the girl who always borrowed his pens and never gave them back. We lost touch for eleven years—different cities, different lives—until we both ended up stuck at the same airport during a massive snowstorm three years ago. We spent twelve hours drinking bad coffee and catching up on everything we’d missed. It felt like we had never been apart. Fast forward to last week. He’s a massive baseball nerd, but I’m mostly just there for the atmosphere. We were sitting in the back row, away from the noise, just talking about how surreal it was that a delayed flight brought us here. He didn’t wait for a break in the game or a 'Kiss Cam' moment. He just leaned over and whispered, 'I’m not losing you for another decade.' Then he pulled out this ring. It was so quiet and intimate in the middle of a screaming crowd. No big announcement, just a private promise while the game played on in the distance. It felt exactly like us: finding each other in the middle of the chaos.
