I'd actually bought a band for him months ago and was hiding it in my clutch bag, waiting for the right moment. When we got to the beach at sunset, he was acting super twitchy and handed me this bouquet of roses. As I was reaching into my bag to pull out his ring, he suddenly dropped to one knee with this round diamond. I just stood there with the flowers in one hand and his ring in the other, laughing because we'd both been planning this for months without realizing it. He put on his ring, I put on mine. It was a total mess but way more "us" than some rehearsed speech.
