All I wanted was for Ella to feel as loved and special as she deserves on Christmas. Weeks ago I had discreetly set up lights in our yard spelling "Marry Me?" so they'd be ready to illuminate when the time was right. On Christmas Eve after dinner, I told Ella I had a surprise for her outside. When she opened the front door, her smile made all my nerves melt away. I took her hands then got down on one knee. As I poured my heart out about her being my guiding light and best friend, tears welled in her happy eyes. I'll never forget the joy on her face when she said "Yes!". It was that time I hit the button to set off the fireworks I had tucked away, lighting up the sky. Our families then emerged, cheering and embracing us both. Sliding the ring on her finger, I was the luckiest man alive. Nothing could have been more perfect than starting forever with my Ella surrounded by love, warmth and dazzling color on that magical Christmas night.
