Michael and I have been together for over a decade, after meeting in nursing school. Both busy with our careers, we never rushed into anything. On our 6th anniversary, during a stroll along the beach after dinner, Michael surprised me with a ring. I cried “yes” and we embraced as the waves crashed. Planning our wedding was a beautiful adventure, with laughs and late nights poring over bouquets, cake samples, and seating charts. Exchanging our own vows on the garden terrace of a historic downtown hotel, with the Golden Gate glowing orange behind us, was surreal. Cutting the cake together as husband and wife, dancing under the string lights, I felt beyond lucky to marry my best friend after so many wonderful years together.
