Growing up, my mother Aoife was everything to me - my best friend, my role model and my biggest cheerleader.
Growing up, my mother Aoife was everything to me - my best friend, my role model and my biggest cheerleader. Now as a parent myself, I'm constantly in awe of how she managed it all with such grace. Raising Liam has shown me just how much sacrifice motherhood requires. This Mother's Day, I wanted to do something special to show Aoife how thankful I am for everything she did for me. My husband and I surprised her with a trip back to the small coastal town in Ireland where I grew up, filled with childhood memories. We spent the weekend relaxing together as a family, strolling along the shoreline and enjoying simple pleasures like fish and chips by the pier. On Mother's Day evening, over a home-cooked meal, I gave a heartfelt toast to Aoife for being the rock in my life who enabled me to chase my dreams. Her tears of joy and smile of contentment showed me that quality time together is the best gift a daughter can give.
