Sue and I have always loved hosting gatherings at our home.
Sue and I have always loved hosting gatherings at our home. For our 30th anniversary, we wanted to surround ourselves with family and friends who have been part of our journey. We spent weeks cleaning, cooking and decorating the backyard. When the big day came, it was amazing to see generations of loved ones filling our space. Our kids helped set up a slideshow of photos from over the decades. As the memories played, I recounted how we met in college and our modest wedding in the living room. Laughter rang out as others chimed in with favorite anecdotes. At dinner, our granddaughter begged to sit on "Grandma and Grandpa's" laps. Later, we slow danced to our wedding song under strings of lights. Sue thanked me for the home and life we built together. I felt grateful for our community of support over the years. It was the perfect celebration - low-key but filled with warmth.
