For our two year anniversary, my parents agreed to take our baby for a sleepover so Emma and I could have some much needed couple time.
For our two year anniversary, my parents agreed to take our baby for a sleepover so Caroline and I could have some much needed couple time. We started the day with a leisurely brunch at our favorite cafe, enjoying conversations uninterrupted by spillages or tantrums. It felt like a treat just to linger over coffee and pancakes without the rush of dishes and diaper changes. That afternoon, we caught a matinee showing of a comedy we'd been wanting to see. Holding hands in the dark theater felt like old times before parenthood. Over shared popcorn, we were just like teenagers enjoying some freedom from responsibility. All too soon, it was time to pick up our baby from her grandparents' place. As tired as we were, falling asleep in each other's arms feeling closer than we had in months made the late nights worthwhile. I'm thankful we made the effort to celebrate our love, even amid life's busyness.
