I could hardly believe this day was finally here.
I could hardly believe this day was finally here. After four long years of college, I was graduating. As I got ready, putting on my cap and gown, I thought back on the journey. Most of all, I thought of Sarah, my best friend since freshman orientation. She had been there for me through every late night study session, every bout of homesickness. Whenever I felt like giving up, Sarah's humor and compassion lifted me up. As we got ready together one last time, Sarah handed me a small gift box. "A graduation gift," she said with a smile. "This is to remind you how inspiring you've been," Sarah told me. "Your determination pushed me to work harder too. I'll always be grateful for our friendship." I felt tears welling up as I hugged her close. This small, unexpected token meant more than any expensive present, symbolizing the support and memories we had shared. Wearing the necklace, I was proud not just of myself, but of the bond that helped me reach this day.
