I met Cody when I was volunteering for Habitat for Humanity down in New Orleans one spring break during college.
I met Cody when I was volunteering for Habitat for Humanity down in New Orleans one spring break during college. He was working construction on the project and we really hit it off talking music and literature over lunch. He was such a gentlemen and made me laugh. We exchanged numbers at the end of the week but I didn’t expect to see him again since I lived in Ohio. A few months later he surprised me by showing up at my dorm with tickets to see our favorite band play in Chicago that weekend. The rest is history! 5 years later Cody took me back to New Orleans for a romantic weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We visited all our old spots, ending with a carriage ride through the French Quarter where he proposed with great-grandmother’s ring. I screamed yes! We decided on an intimate courthouse wedding followed by a reception at our favorite jazz bar with family, beers and beignets. It was laid back and perfect, just like us. Cody is my soulmate and I’m so glad we reconnected that fateful week down south.
