Being overseas for a year without Martha was the hardest thing I've ever done. All I could think about was getting back home to her. When my tour finally ended, I couldn't wait to see her smile again. As soon as I walked through the front door, Martha flung herself into my arms. Holding her close, I was overwhelmed with happiness. During dinner, I noticed a sparkle in her eye that gave me courage. I took both of her hands in mine and looked deeply into her beautiful eyes. "This past year away from you made me realize that you're the person I want to spend the rest of my life with." Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out the ring I had been carrying with me every day. As I got down on one knee, Martha gasped, eyes filling with tears. "Martha, you are my best friend and the love of my life. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" I asked opening the small box. "Yes!" she exclaimed. With a grin, I slid the ring on her finger and embraced her tightly. Finally being home and having Martha agree to marry me was the best moment of my life after our long time apart.
