Eight years ago, Alison's laughter as she watched my hapless climbing techniques both irritated and intrigued me. Little did I know that meeting would lead me to discover my passion for rock climbing - and to meeting the love of my life. Ever since, we've scaled peaks together across the globe, from Yosemite's El Capitan to towering Himalayan giants in Nepal. Alison has been my strong partner and best friend. Her encouragement helped develop me from a bumbling novice to seasoned climber. This year as we prepared to celebrate our 8th anniversary, I wanted to express how much she means to me. I bought a delicate gold necklace with our birthstones. On the morning of our special day, I held out the gift box to Alison to show my love. As I expected, she loved it.
