This year marks our 40th wedding anniversary.
This year marks our 40th wedding anniversary. It's hard to believe it's been four decades since I first met John in our college history class. From that moment, I was smitten by his kind smile and wonderful sense of humor. We spent long hours studying together in the library, and I treasured every minute of time I got to spend with him. On our first date, John took me to the beach as the sun was setting. We walked along the shore, talking and laughing for hours. As the stars came out, he turned to me and said "Mary, I've never met anyone like you. Will you go steady with me?" Of course I said yes. Now all these years later, we still try to have a special date night at least once a month, just like we did in college. To celebrate our ruby anniversary, John made reservations at our favorite seaside restaurant. Over dinner, we reminisced about our lives together - our wedding, careers, travels, and watching our children grow up. At the end of the meal, John raised a toast. "To 40 wonderful years with my best friend. I look forward to making many more memories with you." I couldn't have said it better myself.
