To celebrate such a momentous anniversary, my wife and I discussed how we might give back.
To celebrate such a momentous anniversary, my wife and I discussed how we might give back. We had been so fortunate in our 50 years living in Kendal, enjoying our careers and raising our family surrounded by community. A local charity helping vulnerable youth seemed the perfect fit. With care and detail, I drafted a letter recounting our lives in Cumbria, the love and laughter we've shared, and our thanks for all this place and its people have given us. She smiled at my words, giving the page a signature of her own. While material gifts were nice, contributing to a cause bigger than ourselves felt like the perfect way to honor our relationship and all it had given us. I knew this donation would make a real difference, which filled me with warmth and gratitude.
