My niece Samantha was the first in our family to graduate from college. I remember how nervous yet determined she was those first few weeks of her freshman year. Now, four years had passed in the blink of an eye and it was time for her to walk across the stage. I wanted her gift to be something that would remind her of how far she’d come. After hours of browsing, a delicate heart pendant necklace called out to me. At the graduation party, I presented it to her and told her it symbolized the strength of her character. With happy tears in her eyes, she gave me a big hug, thanking me for being one of her biggest cheerleaders. I was beyond proud of her dedication and resilient spirit. This was just the start of great things to come.
