My husband Tyler and I met our freshman year of college at Northwestern - I was his tour guide on campus visit day! We hit it off right away and started dating soon after. Four years later we graduated and both took jobs in the city. Tyler proposed at our favorite Mexican place on our 5 year anniversary. We dreamed of a big Chicago wedding to celebrate with all our friends who had watched us fall in love. Covid unfortunately changed those plans, but we didn't want to wait any longer. So last spring we said "I do" at City Hall with just our parents as witnesses. It was intimate but perfect. A few months later when restrictions eased, we threw an outdoor block party bash in our neighborhood. All our family and friends came together to dance, eat, drink and witness our love. Getting married in the place we met and fell in love, surrounded by the community that has supported us, made it extra memorable and special. Tyler is my person and I'm so glad we got to make it official, even if it looked a little different than we imagined!
