We first felt a spark as pediatric nurses working together in the busy NICU. We shared an instant connection caring for fragile babies and supporting worried families. After long stressful shifts, we'd talk for hours unwinding over coffee. Now married for a year and became parents ourselves, we traded thoughtful vow renewals in between feedings and diaper changes. Though exhausted from round-the-clock care of baby, we were filled with joy to spend our first anniversary bonding as a family. This new parents' life isn't what we pictured, but we wouldn't trade it for the world.
