Melissa and I have been together for 8 amazing years, but Washington state hadn't yet legalized same-sex marriage. So when it passed, we immediately started planning our big day. We decided on a beautiful lakeside venue surrounded by trees with an outdoor ceremony. All of our friends and family supported us unconditionally. When Melissa's ring fit perfectly, I started crying tears of happiness. Cutting our wedding cake together as wives was the best feeling ever. Dancing the night away, I was so grateful to celebrate our love officially with the people we care about most.
